10 set Senado aprova até 5 anos de prisão para quem maltratar cães e gatos

O plenário do Senado aprovou no dia 9 de setembro o projeto de lei que aumenta a pena para quem maltratar cães e gatos. Aprovado na Câmara em dezembro de 2019, o projeto de lei prevê prisão de dois a cinco anos, multa e proibição de guarda para quem praticar abuso, maus-tratos, ferir ou mutilar esses animais. Como comparação, hoje, a pena para crimes contra qualquer animal é de três meses a um ano de detenção e multa.

A morte da cadela Manchinha, os pit bulls resgatados de uma rinha e a agressão contra o cachorro Sansão, que teve as patas decepadas, são alguns dos casos recentes que reacenderam cobranças por penas mais severas. O novo projeto de lei, que só precisa ser sancionado pelo presidente, é motivo de comemoração para protetores da causa animal.
